Jason Bennett Thatcher

Dr. Thatcher holds the Milton F. Stauffer Professorship in the Department of Management Information Systems at the Fox School of Business of Temple University. He also holds faculty appointments at the Technical University of Munich, the Information Technology University-Copenhagen, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Jason studies individual decision-making, strategic alignment, and workforce issues related to the effective and secure application of information technologies in organizations. His more recent projects direct attention to cybersecurity and social media. He works on these topics with colleagues in the United States, Asia, and Europe.

Jason’s work appears in MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Applied Psychology, and other outlets.

 

Jason has published (or forthcoming) papers in Financial Times 50 listed journals about once a year since earning his Ph.D. He appears on the MIS Quarterly’s most prolific authors list, placing him in the top 35 or so active researchers in the Information Systems discipline.

 

Jason credits his productivity to his students and co-authors, who make the work fun, engaging, and exciting to complete.

Jason maintains an active research agenda. According to AISResearchRankings.org,  he was ranked the most productive author on the AIS Senior Scholars list in 2014, 2020, and 2021 as well as the most productive scholar in Information Systems between 2018 and 2021. Since earning his Ph.D. in 2002, some rankings place Jason as the 10th most productive scholar out of 9,000+ active researchers in his discipline. According to GoogleScholar, his work has been cited more than 12000+ times.

Jason serves as Senior Editor at Information Systems Research as well as Journal of the Association for Information Systems and has served as Senior Editor at MIS Quarterly. He served on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Information Systems, Decision Sciences, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He was recognized as a top Associate Editor by Information Systems Research.

Jason teaches undergraduate courses, MBA workshops, and Ph.D. Seminars. He won the College of Business and Behavioral Science 2008 Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award at Clemson University. He has mentored Ph.D. students in the United States, Denmark, Germany, and Hong Kong. Jason was named to the Circle of Compadres by the KPMG Foundation for contributions to mentoring minority Information Systems Ph.D. students in the United States.
