I was woken up tonight by a text message.
It contained a plea for help.
Someone I am close to had attempted self-harm & refused treatment.
Those close to them are rallying to support.
Because we care - even if this person we are close to - can’t see it right now - we will offer support to them - in our different ways.
This story will play out for hundreds of families & friend groups this next several weeks.
Depression, substance abuse, and suicide seem to peak about now.
It is up to us - as humans - to help.
Please recognize that for many, the holiday season is a difficult time.
Life isn’t so simple and not everyone is blessed with the same resources, the same family support, and the same mental well-being.
If you are struggling, please reach out to family, friends, or even strangers.
You are not alone.
You will find support.
People care.
If you know someone struggling, please reach out to them.
Let them know they are not alone.
That you support them.
That you care.
Let’s all come together and support each other this holiday season.
If you need a conversation, reach out.
I will listen.
