Many thanks and an ask. (Or extend support to others this holiday season).

Many thanks to the early career scholars who approached me this past week at different events and shared their appreciation of my posts.

Many thanks to the senior scholars who also shared their appreciation and suggestions for topics to post.

Many thanks to the critics who gave me much food for thought, constructive dissension is always welcome.

I know that I can be a little awkward when approached - it’s bc despite having an opinion - I’m still a bit shy - and certainly not used to being thanked for speaking up :)

Know that your positive support means the world to me.

We all have backstages to the lives that we lead online and to the professional lives that manage in person.

Mine has been challenging as of late.

So your support is all the more meaningful.

Now my ask.

Please offer similar support - of thanks and appreciation to people in your academic life.

The holiday season can be challenging on many levels (https://lnkd.in/eJczbeKe). Your support could be essential to helping others navigate their personal and professional challenges.

Be it calling your advisor to catch up, thanking a student for their work, or patting your department chair on the back, you will find that your support means something and will be returned tenfold!

Have a wonderful holiday week!
