I've posted on the virtues of patiently waiting for reviews a few times.
I recognize that not everyone agrees that we should wait for processes to play out in the peer review process.
Yet.
I've never nudged an editor and had it come to a happy ending.
Typically, it results in a swift rejection on a paper that was teetering on the razor's edge between major revision and the abyss.
However.
That does not mean it is easy to wait for the decision.
For whatever reason, waiting in the Winter months is particularly painful.
So, after work, I'll stop at the store, see if I can't find a "happy six-month anniversary card", and mail it to my co-authors.
Then go back to waiting.
It seems like a decision in the third round would not take so long.
But sometimes it does.
So, what do others do to pass the time?
While waiting for a decision?
